Autocratic parenting uses force, punishment, manipulation. It's the parent that wants to be in control. It's my way or the highway. Do it because I'm the parent, that's why. That's on one end. On the complete opposite end, there are permissive parent. No boundaries, no limits, everything is okay, come home when you want to, that sort of thing. In the middle, is what we are striving for. It's called democratic parenting. Democratic parenting is giving choices, giving a child a voice, hearing them, respecting them, mutual respect, having that connection. Being firm, but being kind.
